Byron Cheung is joining Nixon Law Group as an intern for the 2024 fall semester. He is currently a 3L at the University of Maryland Francis King Carey School of Law concentrating in Health Law. Byron serves as the President of the Student Health Law Organization and Military Law and Veterans Society. He has an undergraduate degree from Cornell University and a master’s degree in healthcare management from Johns Hopkins University. Byron also served for 6.5 years in the U.S. Navy as a Hospital Corpsman, working in a variety of direct patient care and managerial positions in hospital and field medical care environments.
After completing his service, Byron decided to attend law school in hopes of playing an active role in the partnerships, legal outcomes, and regulations that shape the healthcare industry. In his time at law school, Byron has interned with a large biomedical research non-profit organization, the HHS Office of Inspector General, and the FDA Office of Chief Counsel.
With this internship, Byron is excited for the opportunity to learn more about the intersection between healthcare innovation and the legal field, particularly in cutting edge areas such as digital health and artificial intelligence applications in care delivery.
