What has been the most surprising benefit of working at NGL?

The level of direct mentorship to refine and build on my legal skills to help me maximize the value I can bring to the firm and to clients.

I did not expect to receive as much one-on-one support as I have gotten thus far, and this really helped me identify exactly what I needed to do to excel here and, as of recently, step into a leadership position as Senior Counsel.

Someone is always available to help guide you through challenging client work.

Clear and transparent expectations plus support from the partners and more senior attorneys has been invaluable to my growth here as an attorney!

What excites you about the work you do?

I absolutely love serving as a legal partner to healthcare innovators who are consistently thinking outside of the box to develop long-term solutions that will benefit the healthcare system as a whole.

The law in the healthcare innovation space is still very "gray" in its applicability, and I enjoy using my creative muscles to help clients build their business models in a compliant manner.

How is the work style at NGL different from that of other firms?

The legal industry, as many know, can be very demanding; however, NGL is dedicated to ensuring we have a true work-life balance.

Leadership encourages us to "sign off" when the work day is over and actually take time off when we are out of the office.

Further, after commuting for hours and hours a day for most of my career, the remote working environment has significantly helped me have time for things outside of work.

NGL also invests in team building activities and a culture of respect, which is one of my favorite things about being a part of the NGL team. We not only evaluate candidates' professional experience during the interview process, but also whether they fit in with NGL's values, which has helped the firm build a naturally collaborative team.

NGL is a firm that truly embodies its core values.

Do you think you'll progress faster in your career because of your experiences at NGL?

Definitely. Using my prior expertise, I have been helping to build practice areas at this firm, including telepharmacy and telepet (or, veterinary telehealth), and I do not believe I would have the opportunity to do the same elsewhere as quickly as I have been able to at NGL.

NGL is unique in that the partners truly value what each team member can bring to the table, and if you put the work in, you can contribute to the firm significantly and reach your career goals sooner.

What kind of person do you think would excel at NGL?

One of our core values is, "wear a lawyer’s hat, but walk in your client’s shoes." This is something all of our attorneys aim to practice on a daily basis.

Someone who is interested in partnering with clients to help them achieve their goals would excel at NGL, (e.g., instead of saying "no," we try to come up with an alternative, compliant pathway that will help a client get to where they want to be).

Further, I think someone who is innovative, motivated, values feedback, identifies with our core values, and enjoys working in a collaborative environment would fit right in!
