Podcast Guest Prep
Everything you need to know for a comfortable, confident interview
Thank you for scheduling an interview for our podcast. We’re excited to share your expertise with our audience of healthcare innovators on the Decoding Healthcare Innovation podcast. Below you’ll discover how to set up like a pro (no need for special equipment), how to prepare for your interview with a sticky note, and what to do after we publish to gain more attention for your expertise.
Setup
We record via a platform called Riverside.fm and share the podcast in both audio and video formats. This means audiences will see your face and immediate background if they watch the video version. From your perspective, Riverside.fm works much like Zoom or Skype—you’ll get a link to join and all you have to do is click it. You don’t have to download anything.
We recommend placing your laptop so the camera is at eye level (you can balance on a stack of books to get the right height). If the camera is below your eyes you run the risk of giving the audience a view of your nostrils, not your expertise!
You’ll also want to make sure you have good light in the room and no potential noise distractions through an open door (kids!) or window (garbage trucks!) or household pet (woof!).
You’ll take about the same care with your room setup and appearance as you would a video meeting with a top client, so there’s nothing you don’t already know how to do.
Interview Prep
You already know the topic—you’re the expert! So there is no much prep involved for you. However, in the moment it can sometimes be hard to remember the key points you want to make.
Write out your 1-3 key points as bullets on sticky notes and keep them close so you don’t forget.
We’ll guide you through the conversation in a natural way, so you don’t have to worry about when to say anything. We structure our interview topics, but we are always interested in achieving organic conversations and definitely don’t want you to read your key points.

After the Show
When the podcast is published, you’ll be tagged in updates to make it easy to share on LinkedIn, Twitter, Facebook, or whatever social media outposts you use.
We recommend sharing these posts so your network will tune in to hear what you have to say. You’ll also want to add the interview to your LinkedIn profile, your company’s media page, and even share it in your next email newsletter or update.
You can also leverage this appearance to land even more speaking opportunities by using it as a reference when pitching conferences or other media outlets. A final pro tip is to link to this interview in your Qwoted profile and list a few of your strongest quotes so top journalists can find you when writing about your area of expertise.
We can’t wait to share your insights with our audience
If you have any questions before our scheduled interview, please reply to our invitation email and we’ll get back to you asap. Looking forward to a great conversation!
