Frequently Asked Questions About Payments and Billing

+ How do I make a payment?

You'll receive an email with a link to pay by eCheck through our secure LawPay platform. Click the link and enter your banking details (account and routing number) to process the payment. Please be careful when entering your account and routing numbers.

Here are some pro tips:

  • Do not copy/paste, as that can sometimes trigger a processing error
  • Make sure you've entered the FULL account and routing numbers (not abbreviations)
  • Verify that the full address (including zip code) matches the name/company listed on the card.

To really goof-proof it, we advise saving your payment details so you can easily process future payments. (Don't worry—it doesn't obligate you to an auto-pay unless you sign an agreement for that.)

+ Do you take credit cards?

We can accept payment by credit card in our secure payment portal. We do not accept payment by debit card. Any and all card payments are assumed to be credit card payments and are subject to a 3% processing fee.

+ Where do I find the routing and account numbers to make a payment by eCheck?

At the bottom of your check are 3 groups of numbers: your routing number, account number and check number.

Your bank’s Routing Number is the first set of numbers in the lower left corner of your check. Your Routing Number (sometimes also called your ABA Number) is the 9-digit series of numbers that is used to identify the financial institution associated with your account.

You’ll find your Account Number on your check immediately after the routing number - the middle of the three groups. Your account number is private and unique to your bank account.

You do not need to utilize a check number to pay by eCheck.

Please review both your accounting number and your routing number to ensure accuracy prior to hitting Pay Now.

+ Will you continue work while I'm out of funds?

We will pause on future work until you have renewed your investment.

+ What is the minimum renewal payment?

We are transitioning to a value-based payment model so you don't have to worry about 6-minute charges every time you email or call. This involves a quarterly legal strategy session to scope your needs and then dividing the cost of the work into 3 equal payments.

You'll always know what you're paying, the results you can expect, and when you can expect them. As your legal needs change throughout the year, so does your investment. And you can email or call without budget concerns.

If you want to move to this innovative system sooner rather than later, please talk to your attorney or one of our partners to start the process now.

+ Can you help me process my payment?

Sure! If you have any trouble with your payment please email operations@nixonlawgroup.com and we'll help you sort it out. We can also work directly with a designated member of your Accounts Payable team if you prefer.
