December Roundup: 2022 predictions for healthcare innovators

Can we start with the obvious prediction? We’re gonna need to hire more healthcare innovation attorneys. A lot more.

The telehealth explosion forced by the pandemic, coupled with a continuing trend toward value-based healthcare, sparked a year of incredible change in our industry. And our clients were at the center of it all—building, reimagining, partnering, and evolving.

We’re honored to support the world-changing work of our clients and industry as a whole, and we are excited by what the new year brings.

This month’s email includes our predictions for the industry in 2022, including the trends, opportunities and risks you’ll want to look out for. Look for that link below.

Before we get to those industry predictions for 2022, you’ll first want to know what’s happening right now at NGL:

Mark Mansour, Esq., joined the firm on December 1. With over 2 decades of experience in Food and Drug Law, Mark is your go-to resource for all things Device, Software as a Medical Device (SaMD), FDA, FTC, cannabis, or pharmaceutical advertising. And he forms a powerhouse duo with Laura Podolsky, Esq., when it comes to Decentralized Clinical Trials. Discover more about Mark here, and be sure to connect with him on LinkedIn. (If you comment in Arabic or French, he can reply to you in those languages, too!).

(Speaking of Decentralized Clinical Trials, be sure to check out our podcast episode with Laura and get the free DCT “friction points” resource she created for you.)

Kaitlyn O’Connor, Esq., our Remote Patient Monitoring (RPM) Practice Lead, was recently selected to the Virginia Super Lawyer List. This means she ranks among the top 2% of lawyers in the state. (File this under: tell us something we didn’t know.). Click here to congratulate Kaitlyn on Linkedin

Kat Lozah can now add Esq. to her name, as she’s passed the Bar Exam (on her first try, no big deal) and advances from Law Clerk to Counsel. Kat has been a stellar addition to our team from day one, and we predict a long and successful law career for her. Be sure to congratulate Kat on her achievement on LinkedIn.

Reema Taneja, Esq., spoke at the American Society for Pharmacy Law Conference in Las Vegas last month. Thankfully, what happens in Vegas makes it to the NGL blog, so be sure to check out her Pharmacy Innovation Series and connect with her on LinkedIn for more insights around telepharmacy opportunities.

And Partner Carrie Nixon continued her telehealth advocacy work by attending the American Telehealth Association’s EDGE policy conference in Washington, DC this month. While we’ve made great strides with telehealth over the past two years, we still have a long way to go. And we’re excited Carrie is so deeply immersed in this important work.

Are you ready for some predictions now?

Then pour yourself a beverage and get comfy before you click here, because we’ve got a lot to share with you.
When you’re done reading, will you reply and let us know if you agree? Did anything surprise you? We’d love to hear your feedback.

And that brings us to the end of this month’s message

However, we can’t leave without telling you (again, because it never gets old for us!) how lucky we are to work with innovators, world changers, and heartfelt leaders like you. The work we do is complex, and we do it with a smile because we know you’re doing challenging work, too. Changing the world isn’t for the faint of heart, and we’re glad to be on the team with you.

Thank you for the privilege of supporting you throughout 2021, whether you are a client, colleague, competitor, or email subscriber.

We have even more planned for you in 2022, and it all starts in January. So look for our next email then.

(But first, we’ll be closed between Monday, December 27th and Friday, December 31st for a well earned winter break.)

Happy New Year!

Carrie and Rebecca
