Were Your Ears Burning?

You were the subject of a lot of discussion last week! Okay, maybe not ‘you’ specifically, but ‘you’ as part of our innovator client base.

Our team met face-to-face for the first time in what feels like forever as we spent two days learning better ways to serve forward-thinking healthcare and life sciences leaders like you. Think: mock client calls, role play scenarios, and digging deeper into the world you live in so we can serve you better.

And because of our collaborative work style at NGL, we made sure to schedule in a social time to strengthen our bonds with each other during a Potomac River cruise, wine tasting, and even axe throwing!

Thanks for your patience as we took these two days out from the workweek to improve our ability to support you and your business long-term.

Speaking of support, we’ve got some great resources for you this month:

  • [Healthcare Innovators in every sector] Are you going to HLTH in Boston Oct 17-20? We’ll be there, too! Ping Carrie and Rebecca on LinkedIn so you can meet up, discuss what you’re learning, or save each other a seat in one of the many great sessions. Carrie is moderating The Evolution of Reimbursement on the 19th, which is a very timely discussion as we all await the Final Rule on the 2022 MPFS. (Free on Sunday evening? Join us for happy hour with cohost Beracah Stortvedt of MarshMcClennan Agency by RSVPing via email here.)

  • [Healthcare innovators in every sector] Check out the next episode in our occasional podcast series on Obvious Truths Our Healthcare Policy Still Doesn’t Support. This time we’re talking about mental health’s role in overall health, plus how providers, payors, and digital health companies can align to achieve better outcomes.

  • [Digital Health] What privacy concerns do digital health providers have when innovating—especially as some states adopt stricter privacy laws and EU expansion includes GDPR? Find out in this free informational webinar from our privacy experts Bethany Corbin and Ashleigh Giovannini on October 27.

  • [Digital Health, Life Sciences] Have you checked out our Invest in Womxn list for 2021? You’ll find dozens of venture funds and accelerators looking for innovative womxn founders. (Are you a VC or accelerator who should be on the list? Reply to this email with your info.)

Please help us welcome two new members to the team:

Bethany Corbin, Esq., joins us as a privacy, regulatory compliance, and transactional attorney for the health care and technology industries. She previously worked for a large DC firm and is particularly interested in the intersection of healthcare and technology—so much so that she has co-authored a book to be published this fall from AHLA. Fun fact: Bethany played a zombie on season 4 of Walking Dead! Click here to connect with Bethany on LinkedIn and apply for a spot on her zombie apocalypse team.

Kathrin (Kat) Lozah graduated from Boston University School of Law in 2021 and achieved a concentration in Health Law with honors. Kat is looking forward to putting her passion for healthcare into practice at Nixon Gwilt as a Law Clerk while she waits for her Bar Exam results. Fun fact: Kat is our globetrotting team member, having lived on three continents and four states and studied abroad four times. Click here to connect with Kat on LinkedIn and welcome her to the team.

That’s all for now, though we hope we’ll see you again at HLTH (RSVP via email for the Sunday happy hour we’re hosting with MarshMcClennan Agency here) at the Privacy webinar later this month, the podcast every other Wednesday, and on LinkedIn throughout the month. Oh, and in case you need an expert opinion for this very serious dilemma: YES, we do recommend opening the Halloween candy early—unless you bought candy corn. Enjoy!
