Nixon Gwilt Law Expands Corporate, Mergers and Acquisitions, Venture Capital, and Health Tech Capabilities with Four New Attorneys

Nixon Gwilt Law (NGL) is excited to announce a significant expansion of our core capabilities through the addition of four attorneys with expertise in healthcare technology, mergers and acquisitions, fundraising and venture capital, and corporate/business counsel. These new team members collectively add decades of experience working with healthcare innovation companies of all sizes, greatly expanding our capacity to serve new and existing clients’ needs in these areas.

Unveiling New Support for Healthcare Innovators

Managing Partner Carrie Nixon says, “As the digital health industry continues to face rapid changes and complex challenges, we know that our clients need agile and forward-thinking attorneys who stay at the leading edge of innovation. We’re thrilled to expand our capacity to offer a broad spectrum of legal thought partnerships to companies in our space.”

New and existing clients will appreciate having access to a wider range of specialized legal services that address their needs, especially in a maturing industry with increased M&A activity and higher investor expectations.

NGL welcomes the corporate, M&A, VC, and health tech capabilities of:

Michael Pappas, Esq., Partner; Special Counsel: William Reynolds, Esq.; Kevin Joyce, Esq., and Eileen Gorman, Esq.

Michael Pappas Joins as Partner

Mike brings over 15 years of experience advising health tech companies on critical business and legal matters. In his previous role as General Counsel at Foodsmart, Mike led the company’s legal team to help the company execute on key strategic initiatives. He worked to establish a joint venture among Foodsmart and three community health plans focused on addressing root causes of chronic disease and mental illness. Most recently, Mike shepherded the company through a $40 million Series C fundraising round.

Founding Partner Rebecca Gwilt says, “Our clients will benefit from his years of hands-on experience as a technologist and lawyer, embedded with some of the biggest players in the healthcare space. Whether they're building and selling, or buying and implementing these solutions, Mike's experiential and legal/regulatory expertise will give clients vital insight into risks and opportunities in the space.”

Mike knows how vital it is to understand his clients’ key technologies to provide valuable thought partnership to innovative health tech clients. With legal and consulting experience and statistics and analytics training, he is well-positioned to navigate uncharted regulatory, contractual, and strategic waters with clients.

“Of course, no one knows everything—especially with things changing and evolving as fast as they are right now,” Mike says. “But because I understand the concepts of machine learning, AI, and neural networks, and how they fit together, I can jump into strategic discussions quickly to save clients time and money.
