Is the future of healthcare female? [March Roundup]

If so, then we’re here for it!

In celebration of National Women’s History Month and the recent International Women’s Day, we’ve got a lot of women-centered and women-driven content for you today (which naturally benefits all kinds of humans, especially those who are investors, founders, providers, or digital health innovators).

Let’s get to it!

Startups and Investing

We kicked off March by publishing our Second Annual Invest in Womxn List. This list of 100 venture funds and accelerators for female founders is a great place to start if you’re looking for funding or mentorship for your business. And if you’re an investor or mentor for female-founded businesses (and with an average documented outcome of 2X more revenue per dollar invested, you should be!), make sure your name is on our list.

On our Decoding Healthcare Innovation podcast, Rebecca spoke to Brave Health’s Anna Lindow about mission-driven innovation and what she’s doing to expand access to high-quality, affordable care for mental health and addiction.

FemTech

Bethany Corbin, Esq., host of our new Legally Femtech podcast, covers two important conversations for FemTech innovators. The first is FemTech’s evolution and social harms, as well as how to design for an inclusive future. And the second is how to navigate the FemTech landscape in Europe. For all things FemTech, be sure to subscribe to this smart and energetic podcast.

Marija Butkovic, Founder and CEO of Women of Wearables, a global organization of women and allies in wearable tech, femtech, and health tech, spoke to Carrie on our Decoding Healthcare Innovation podcast. Find out how companies are innovating specifically as it relates to women’s health, as well as what the funding landscape looks like, and tips on marketing an early or growth stage business.

Conference report: ViVE2022 in Miami

Carrie and Rebecca attended ViVE2022 in Miami this month with Remote Monitoring Practice Lead Kaitlyn O’Connor. While the event wasn’t geared around women’s healthcare, people couldn’t help but notice how female founders and executives are driving the future of healthcare tech.

Carrie was honored to share the ViVE2022 stage with Geeta Nayyar of Salesforce, Roy Schoenberg MD MPH of Amwell, Tania Elliott of Ascension, and Kyna Fong, Ph.D. of Elation Health for a standing-room-only discussion on how we can (and should) begin to frame "virtual care" as just another key component of quality healthcare delivery, rather than as something to displace in-person care.

And Kaitlyn O’Connor’s panel on Medication Management earned raves from attendees, one of whom recapped the high points here.

The Women of NGL

As part of this year’s theme for International Women’s Day, we thought you might like to get to know us a bit better. After all, we’re pretty unique in the healthcare innovation law firm space as a female-founded, female-led, and majority female firm.

If you want to hear more from any of the fabulous women we interviewed, be sure to check their LinkedIn profiles for their solo videos.
